24 March 2014 - Another one...

I managed to sew another quilt over the weekend...
This order is from my ex-boss when I was working for NCR 5 years ago..
She placed 2 orders 1 for her daughter and another one for her son...
She also challenged me to sew a bigger quilt.. coz she said her son weigh 60kg now.. 50 x 50 inches just wont do... :P
And she said, 'I'll leave the colors up to your creativity.. Just make it bright and colorful..."

So I figured let's start with the one for her daughter..
Well coz I think I know one color most girls cant say no to = PINK!

As soon as I finished it, I was hoping hard that she'll like it..
And she did!
Thank God... Alhamdulillah...
Duduk cuti-cuti kat rumah pun ada rezeki kalau kia rajin kan?

This is how it looks like on a single bed...
A bit smaller than I imagine..
I definitely have to make a bigger one for her son...
That will be this week's project...

Later in the evening I took the kids to the cinema and we watched Mr Peabody and Sherman..
We liked it.

Qaiser enjoyed the popcorn..
And he behaved throughout the movie..
Good boy..

That's it for now..
Off cutting fabric for the other quilt..
Do email me if you would like order ya...

21 March 2014 - My sidekick, my buddy, my shopping partner, my princess

Its time to renew my road tax and insurance...
I managed to renew my insurance 1 day before it expires..
So I decided to switch from UniAsia to Etiqa...
It is as easy as a phone call away... only you can only make the payment wih your credit card or Maybank Debit card (the new one, not the old yellow ATM card)
So I went to Maybank to replace my ATM card with the debit card.. It only costs RM12...
But after that Etiqa still failed to charge the amount to my debit card.. turns out I need to change the transaction limit of the new card..even though I have more than enough amount in the account...
This can easily be done at the ATM machine...

Then I need to renew my road tax...
Yes it can be done via MYEG with a little fee of RM6 but Daddy asked me to go to JPJ...
Well because there is no more space on grant so it cannot be done at the post office...

So today I asked my princess to accompany me... I know it'll be a long torturous wait at the JPJ if I go there alone..
And I was right.
We had to wait from 12.45 until 2PM before it is finally our turn...
Then the officer just keyed in something on the computer and I paid RM90 for a year...
But then she didnt renew my grant..
I had to ask and then only she asked me to fill up a simple form...
Luckily it was just a simple process...
So next year, InsyaAllah I can just go to any post office to renew my road tax...
No more wasting time waiting at JPJ...

By the way, Qis followed to the office today...
This is what she did to pass the time...
Luckily I work half day on Friday.. if not, I cant imagone what else she'll do there... :p

18 March 2014 - This one is for a boy

This quilt is the order that I received from my sister's friend and it is for her baby boy...
She actually asked for green and blue combination but boy it soo hard to find a cute green fabric!
Or maybe I just dont know where to look for it..
:(

So I use the yellow polkadot fabric just to give it that 'zing' effect..
:P

I hope she'll like it...

I have 2 Super Single quilts for a boy and a girl.. and 1 batman quilt to do...
I'm going to be a bit busy but I;m excited to get it done.
Hope all ends well.

13 March 2014 - What is happening..

To my dear dear country Malaysia...
First, water issue in Selangor...
And then, the missing MH370...
Now, haze is back...!

Honestly, I'm scared...hence my posting on FB:
Yes, OK life goes on... tapi dalam sibuk mengejar kebendaan dunia yang sementara ni cuba stop kejap and doa:
1. Untuk MH370...sengsaranya family member dorang yang menunggu dari hari ke sehari tanpa khabar berita...
2. Agar bumi Allah ni dirahmati dengan hujan dan limpahan air..
3. Agar jerebu ni hilang!!! Kita ye la keje dalam ofis... beraircond...anak2 kat sekolah tu camne oii... *risau mode*

I'm just worried about my children... :(

12 March 2014 - My first quilt!

I have been quiet for a LONG time..
Oh well,
Just too lazy to blog even though I'm dying to share about my first quilt with whoever stumbles upon the same difficulty as I did - to find a batting.

I've been searching for Quilt batting everywhere!
From the one and only sewing shop in Bandar Baru Ampang to everywhere in Google!
Then I lose hope for a while and I thought maybe I can replace the batting with a layer of sponge instead.
It worked. But only on small pouches.

I didnt give up and kept searching for it.
And then I stumble upon a sewing blog and I saw Maycraft commented on it.
Their shop is in SUbang and Im in Ampang so there's noooo way I'm gonna go there considering that I'm a lousy driver...
I emailed them..sadly after a day (yes, im inpatient... that's why online shopping is not for me) I received no reply.
So I called the shop and the one of the staffs was kind enough to provide me with their boss's number.
I wassap her and received a swift respond..
I would highly reccommend buying from her coz I receive the batting 1-2 days after the payment was made.
Efficient + Fast = Love
Check them out at http://maycraft.com.my/

So I happily made my first quilt...
Ibu asked me to sew a simple bedsheet to cover this single sponge mattress that I bought from IKEA 7 years ago...
Coz well after 7 years the cover is gone and there's just .. a piece of big sponge..
And I like to put it in the living room so that Qaiser or Qis can lie there while watching TV or whatever..
Such an eye-sore..

But me being too ambitious as usual i decided to sew a quilt.
I was a bit sceptic at first cause I wasnt sure if my antique machine can sew quilt.
But I did it!
Not bad for a first quilt ey?

Then of course, I posted the photos on my IG and FB..
My sister saw it and asked me to sew one for my niece Damia...
So this is my second quilt!

Long story short, she loved it, i mean really really really pleased with it that she posted about it on her FB and IG..
She even mention how neat it was so now I'm in the midst of making another one for her friend..
Who is kind enough to put an order and trust my fabric selection.

I hope she'll love it..
Will share the photo once I've completed it..

Till then,
XoXo
